Grandad

One day a phone call came and it was Granddad. He asked us did we want to visit him. We decided that we would go because we didn’t see him in a long time. So the next day we went to visit Grandad in Galway where he lived. He was tall and thin and he was a very sporty man. When we arrived, he opened the door. He was still the same man. The house was huge and had a beautiful lawn covered with magnificent summer flowers. Grandad was a great gardener. He showed us around the trophy room. It was enormous and was filled with well-polished trophies. He asked us what did we want to eat and we said we would make a big Irish dinner. So we started to make the dinner. We got the food from the supermarket. When we cooked the dinner we had to do the wash up. Grandad asked us did we want to go into town. And we said we would go into town for a while. And then we got ready to go into town....  

When we arrived in Galway town, we couldn’t wait to explore it. There was a massive parade with sweet stalls everywhere. We stuffed ourselves silly. We were about to go into a big carnival when Grandad decided that he didn’t have enough money for the carnival. So, he went to the bank. He told the children to wait outside and that he might be a couple of minutes. Grandad entered the bank and to my surprise he took something out of his pocket. But I didn’t see what it was. He came out of the bank with a lot of money and was also in a hurry. He said we didn’t have enough time to go to the carnival. When we went home we went straight to sleep. When we awoke there a lot of new stuff in the living room. Then we found Grandad. He was sitting on a chair outside in the garden. There was a laser-like light on his head. I walked passed and suddenly fell on the ground in pain. When I woke up, there was no longer a light on Grandad’s head but Grandad knew he couldn’t take me to the hospital. He had to mind me himself...…
