A day in the life of a spider.

It was Christmas Eve and it was a cold, bitter and blustery night.  The wind blew hard and the snow glistened under the lamp-post.  There was a boy called Timmy.  He was a small, thin, shy little boy.  He suffered from asthma.  He found it hard to make friends and was often lonely.  His one true friend was his spider.  He called his spider 'Pepsi' because his mum brought him Pepsi Cola to drink when he had to stay in hospital.  It was his favourite treat.  His spider also likes Pepsi Cola.  On this Christmas Eve Timmy heard a strange noise downstairs.  He grabbed his spider and jumped out of the bed and rushed down to the sitting room.  You can imagine his astonishment when he realised who had made the noise.  It was Santa Claus.  " Ho!  Ho!  Ho!" said Santa " Little Boy, What do you want for Christmas?" "All 1 want for Christmas is to be a spider for a day like my friend Pepsi" replied Timmy.

"Are you sure?" said Santa.  "Yes" Timmy roared back.  'OK.  OK', said Santa, 'Calm down.  'Abra Kadabra' Santa shouted.  Suddenly there was a big huge BOOM.  There was smoke everywhere.  Timmy had shrunk into a spider.  "What happened?" asked Timmy.  "You are a spider" said Santa.  "Cool" said Timmy, "I am a spider".  Timmy felt happy and exited but at the same time worried.  Timmy scuttled as fast as his eight little legs could carry him.  Up to meet his pet Spider Pepsi.  He saw Pepsi.  Pepsi looked very lonely.  Suddenly Pepsi saw a little spider and he noticed that it was Timmy who had changed into a little spider.  He was so delighted his eyes popped in and out.  Then Timmy and Pepsi danced a spidery Jig.  Then he invited him up to his web on the ceiling.  They had great fun.  When a robin flew in the open window.  The robin suddenly noticed that there were two spiders up on the ceiling.  He shot straight up for Pepsi and Timmy.  "Oh no" said the two of them.  "We are done for.  What will we do?"

Then Timmy got a plan.  "We will use our webs to blind him and we will make our escape through the hole in the ceiling", said Timmy.  In the hole there was a wise old bat with a long grey beard.  The bat's name was Grandpa Wamba and he helped them scare away the Robin.  When the Robin was gone they had supper with him.  After supper they said thanks and "see you some other time".  Then they went outside and met some of Pepsi's friends and they made friends with them.  There was Mickey Moth, Caitríona Catterpillar, Fred Field Mouse, Harry Hamster and Betty Butterfly.  They showed them their home and then went back to their web at Timmy's house.  Timmy and his friend Pepsi went to the sitting room and sat down to watch television.  After they had finished watching television, they went to Pepsi's web and fell asleep.  When they woke up in the morning, Timmy was a human again and he was very happy.
