The School Website

We are the fifth and sixth classes and we decided to construct a school web site and include all our writing. Our teacher is Christine O Mahony. All the class contributed their ideas. Everyone learned how to complete their work in groups (even after school!), how to link pages and learned a lot of other stuff.  Our teacher wanted the web site to be completed by ourselves and she taught us how to do it.  She lent some of us her digital camera and her mini disc player. We took lots of pictures around Newmarket and included them in our writing. John Ryan sang 'Up Up Newmarket' and Billy Allen played it on the keyboard. Richard did a good job on typing up a list of the staff.

For the homepage, our logo is under construction and will be completed soon. We went on the net to look at other schools but many of them didn't include their pupils' work, so we didn't learn much from them. Our teacher won't allow us bad spellings or poor sentences and grammar has to be perfect, even though we might get away with a few now and then. The other classes will join us in writing articles for the website next year, I think. We wrote a class magazine for Halloween and for Easter, and the whole school is now preparing to put one together for the Summer term. The logo for our pupils' magazine is ready and we're calling it "Bitz 'n' Pieces" because we're going to include all kinds of writing in it. We will have them all on the website.

It's all hard work but we're having great fun and learning a lots. Computers are great.
