Recycling
means that we can use the materials again.
Some examples of recycling we can do are to put our cans and
bottles into the recycling bank in the town car-park.
When the cans and glass bottles are taken to the factories, the
bottles are melted and used to make other glass products again, like
windows, clocks and bulbs. Cans
are also melted down and used to make cans again or some ladders.
Paper can also be recycled.
During summer camp we recycled paper.
First we made pulp from old shredded paper, then flattened the
pulp, pressed flowers into it and then allowed it to dry.
As we all know, paper is made from trees and the more we recycle
paper, the more trees we save and we have for fresh, clean air. By

About
two months ago, Ted and Marcus visited our school to talk about waste
management and recycling. The amount of waste recycling in Ireland compared with other
countries is staggering as we only recycle 6-9% of our waste.
We have a lot to learn from other countries, take Germany for
instance; they recycle 30-60% of their waste because nearly all the
houses over there have recycle bins and compost bins.
The companies by law have to dispose of the waste packaging
themselves. On
their second visit the recapped on there last visit and also they
planted two willow trees and told us why you couldn’t plant an Oak
tree because the roots would destroy the schools foundation. (We speak
for everyone by saying, ”we wanted to plant the tree“) Finally the
showed us how a tree works and why they are so important. By Billy Allen and Kevin O Sullivan
