Newmarket's Activities

Newmarket has a wide range of activities for all ages- adults & children may attend.

Swimming is one of the many great activities Newmarket runs. This is for children to develop their skills at swimming. It is £4 to attend. It takes place every Wednesday at five o’clock. Also, as most towns have, Newmarket has their own football and hurling teams. Newmarket has three pitches- one of them is being reseeded, the other is being renovated and the third one is the one that we play in at the moment. We also have a drama club that used to be in the James O' Keeffe Institute, but we've now built a new set in the C.Y.M.S hall. That’s where we used to play soccer. We also have step dancing, which is on most Thursdays at 5:00pm. It's £1.25 to attend. This is on in the James O' Keeffe, which was formerly where the drama club used to be. There is music every Saturday, which is for both adults and children.

The Pitch and Putt club

The Pitch and Putt club is a club where you can have a lot of enjoyment & you should be able to develop your golfing skills. Jimmy Cross minds the club but it is owned by the Cork County council. It is located beside the convent & the course is made up of eighteen holes. Usually in the summer there are contests on Saturday mornings. They also have a competition once a year, but this year it was canceled because of the foot and mouth disease.
