Margaret
& Billy Daly are the proprietors of Scarteen Stud, Newmarket, Co.
Cork. It was first opened in 1991. Over the past 2 years, it has had major
improvements carried out on the site. It now holds 23 well-equipped
stables, outdoor and indoor arenas and an electronic horse walker. In
the near future it will possess 10 more stables. It houses 65 horses
presently on the farm. One of the most successful of these horses
is 'Newmarket Girl' who won the Young Ireland in Millstreet in 1997

Breeding Championship 2000 and finished 3rd in her first international
competition in Cavan last year. 'Newmarket Boy', brother of
Newmarket Girl, finished 3rd in the Young Irelander in 1999 and 3rd in
the National Discovery 2000.
‘Newmarket Rising Cavalier’ won the 3-year-old loose
jumping competition at the R.D.S last year. ‘Newmarket Jewel’, which
is a German bred stallion, will compete in the A, B and C levels of
horse jumping this year. These are very promising horses for the years
to come. We hope that there is good weather for the upcoming
competitions this year.

The
professional rider at the farm is international rider Mark O’ Sullivan
from Waterford. The groom is Carla Brown and Dan O’ Conner is the
competent manager at the stud farm.
