A Day In School

Our school has about 120 pupils. There are low and high-infants, 1st, 2nd3rd,  4th, 5th and 6th classes. We have a football pitch, a yard, a gym and a library. We are the first school in North Cork to have a school news magazine. We have been working on Internet WebPages also.  We did a rotating story with 3 other schools. Our school has a remedial teacher and we’ve also got a secretary.  It's an all-boys school. Next to our school we have a park for the small children to play and the big fellows play soccer in the yard or else the field. Our principal, Sheila Crowley, has this year changed classes.  She is now teaching infants and our teacher is Christine O'Mahony.  Our school has got a school football and a hurling team.

A school day begins in the door between 9.00-9.30. When the teachers come in first, we settle down and then usually it's Irish for about 40-50 mins. That brings us up to about half ten.  Some times we do English just for while until 11.00 am (break time). Then we get to play outside.  From then to 12.00 we do a variety of subjects -English reading, 10 min. workbooks (spelling workbooks). They're the worst of all.  Maths are dumb dumb dumb . Or instead of all that we have Physical Education (P.E.) 12.00 on Tuesday or Thursday .We play Soccer, Mat-ball, Basketball, Volleyball, or practice skills. That brings us to 12.30.  Times for big break. Up town to go to the shops! Anglands probably do the best business. It is the closest to the school and they sell hot food. They have very good pizzas for all the boys. When we come in, it's usually religion or sometimes we have computer-time. 2.00p.m.- yet another break not that I am against it or anything. Back in we go. On Fridays we sometimes do crafts or art or read essays. 3.05p.m. We say our prayers and out the door.  Bye school for another day!
